Main Bread:

  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced

For the Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease/flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix cinnamon sugar: Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl; set aside.
  3. Cream sugar and butter: In a large bowl, cream granulated sugar and butter until fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk flour and baking powder. Add to the creamed mixture with milk.
  5. Layer batter and apples: Pour half of the batter into the pan, add apples, cinnamon sugar. Repeat layers and swirl with a knife.
  6. Bake: Bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan, then transfer to a rack.
  7. Make glaze: Whisk powdered sugar and milk, drizzle over cooled bread.
