- For the glaze (optional): 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1–2 tablespoons milk, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Prepare Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, cream together the butter, oil, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Mix Batter: Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples and nuts (if using).
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Glaze: Let cool slightly before drizzling with glaze. To make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the warm cake if desired.
