  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons whole milk
  • 3 medium apples (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon rum (optional)
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
  2. Prepare dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In a separate large bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract and rum if using.
  4. Combine ingredients: Gradually fold in dry ingredients, then add milk until smooth. Gently fold in sliced apples.
  5. Bake: Pour batter into pan and bake for 40–45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
