Description

This delicious Apple Cobbler is a classic dessert perfect for autumn gatherings or a cozy family dinner. Sweet, spiced apples are topped with a buttery, tender cobbler crust for a comforting treat that pairs perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale

For the apples:

  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

For the cobbler topping:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the apples: In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg until evenly coated. Spread the apples in the baking dish.
  3. Make the cobbler topping: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugars, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles crumbs. Stir in milk and vanilla. Drop spoonfuls of batter over apples.
  4. Bake: Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden and apples are bubbling. Cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • You can add chopped pecans or walnuts to the topping for extra crunch.
  • Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
