Description

These Apple Crisp Bites are a delightful mini dessert perfect for parties or holiday gatherings. Featuring a buttery graham cracker crust, warm cinnamon-spiced apple filling, and a crunchy oat topping, these bite-sized treats capture the essence of autumn in every mouthful.

Ingredients

Scale

For the crust:

  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

For the apple filling:

  • 2 medium apples (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

For the crisp topping:

  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a mini muffin tin with 24 cups to prevent sticking.
  2. Make the crust: In a bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Press about 1 tablespoon of this mixture firmly into the bottom of each mini muffin cup to form the crust base. Bake the crust for 5 minutes, then remove and allow to cool slightly.
  3. Prepare the apple filling: In a small saucepan, mix diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Cook over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples soften and the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Make the crisp topping: In a separate bowl, combine oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in the cold cubed butter using a fork or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Assemble the bites: Spoon a small amount of the warm apple filling into each mini crust. Top each with the oat crumble mixture, gently pressing it down to adhere.
  6. Bake the crisp bites: Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Cool and serve: Allow the bites to cool completely in the pan before carefully removing each with a knife. Serve warm for best flavor, optionally with vanilla ice cream or caramel drizzle.

Notes

  • These bites are ideal for parties or holiday platters and make for an elegant finger food dessert.
  • For a decadent touch, serve warm with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream or drizzle with caramel sauce.
  • You can substitute apples with pears for a different but delicious flavor.
  • Make sure to cool the bites fully before removing them to maintain their shape.
