Description

These Apple Fritter Bites are bite-sized delights that are perfect for a sweet treat. Crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and coated with a sweet glaze, they are a delightful dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Batter:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups peeled and finely chopped apples (about 2 small apples)
  • vegetable oil for frying

Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples.
  2. Fry the Fritters: Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully drop heaping tablespoons of batter into the hot oil, frying 4–5 at a time. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  3. Glaze the Fritters: To make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Dip each fritter bite into the glaze while still warm, then set on a wire rack to allow excess glaze to drip off. Let sit for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • These are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat in the oven or air fryer for a few minutes to crisp them up.
  • Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples work great for a tart-sweet balance.
