Description

These Apple Pie Egg Rolls are a delightful twist on traditional apple pie. Crispy on the outside, with a warm, gooey apple-cinnamon filling inside, they are perfect for a sweet treat or dessert.

Apple Filling:

  • 2 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (slurry)

Other:

  • 8–10 egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Apple Filling: In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add chopped apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes until apples are tender. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1 minute until thickened. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  2. Assemble the Egg Rolls: Place 2 tablespoons of apple filling near one corner of an egg roll wrapper. Fold the bottom point up, fold in the sides, and roll up tightly, sealing the edge with water. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. Fry the Egg Rolls: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry egg rolls in batches for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown and crisp. Drain on paper towels. Dust with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • You can bake or air fry the egg rolls at 375°F for 12–15 minutes, brushing them lightly with oil.
  • Serve with caramel sauce or vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
