For the meatballs:
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef or ground turkey
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the sauce:
- 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce (optional for heat)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Sesame seeds and extra chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the meatballs: In a large bowl, mix together the ground meat, breadcrumbs, green onions, garlic, ginger, egg, milk, salt, and pepper. Form into 1-inch meatballs and brown in the oven.
- Make the sauce: Combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, Sriracha, and sesame oil in a bowl.
- Cook in the crockpot: Transfer the meatballs to the slow cooker, pour the sauce over them, and cook on low for 3-4 hours.
- Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
