Description

This Asian-Inspired BBQ Chicken recipe is a flavor-packed dish that’s perfect for a weeknight dinner or weekend BBQ. The chicken is marinated in a delicious blend of soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, and aromatic spices, then grilled to juicy perfection. Serve it with steamed rice or noodles and stir-fried veggies for a complete meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Marinade:

  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha or chili paste (optional)

Garnish:

  • sesame seeds
  • extra sliced green onions

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, green onions, and sriracha if using.
  2. Marinate the Chicken: Place chicken in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, seal or cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to overnight for best flavor.
  3. Grill the Chicken: Preheat grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates. Remove chicken from the marinade, letting excess drip off. Grill chicken for 5-6 minutes per side, or until cooked through with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  4. Rest and Serve: Transfer the grilled chicken to a plate and let it rest for a few minutes. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and extra green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Serve with steamed jasmine rice or noodles and a side of stir-fried vegetables.
  • If you prefer, you can bake the chicken at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes instead of grilling.
