For the Meatballs:

  • 1 pound ground pork or ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, panko breadcrumbs, green onions, garlic, ginger, egg, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Form into 1-inch meatballs and place on the baking sheet.
  3. Bake: Bake for 15 to 18 minutes until cooked through and browned.
  4. Make the Sauce: In a saucepan, combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sriracha. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Coat the Meatballs: Toss the baked meatballs in the sauce until coated.
  6. Serve: Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
