Pasta:

  • 12 oz pasta (linguine or spaghetti)

Asparagus:

  • 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces

Other:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup reserved pasta water
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Boil a pot of salted water and cook the pasta. Add asparagus for the last 2–3 minutes. Reserve pasta water, then drain.
  2. Prepare the Sauce: In a skillet, sauté garlic in olive oil. Add lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix in pasta, asparagus, and reserved water.
  3. Finish and Serve: Remove from heat, stir in Parmesan. Garnish with parsley and extra cheese if desired.
