- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Combine wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Add apples: Toss the diced apples with lemon juice, then gently fold them into the batter.
- Bake: Scoop batter onto the baking sheet, flatten, and bake for 14-16 minutes until golden brown.
- Make glaze: While baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract for the glaze.
- Glaze and serve: Drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters and let it set before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add chopped pecans or walnuts to the batter.
