  • 4 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (cut into small pieces)
  • 1/2 cup apple cider or water
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare Apples: Core each apple, leaving the bottom intact. Combine brown sugar, nuts, oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stuff apples with mixture and top with butter.
  3. Bake: Place apples in a baking dish, pour cider/water in dish, cover with foil, and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until tender and golden.
