Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup cooked crab meat (or imitation crab, chopped)
- 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Wontons
- 20 wonton wrappers
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or cooking spray)
Optional
- Sweet chili sauce or soy sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with non-stick spray to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Prepare the Filling: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, cooked crab meat, chopped green onions, soy sauce, garlic powder, ground ginger, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until the filling is smooth and all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Assemble the Wontons: Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place about 1 tablespoon of the crab mixture in the center of each wrapper. Dip your finger in water and moisten the edges of each wrapper. Fold the corners together to form a triangle or purse shape, then pinch the edges firmly to seal the wontons completely.
- Bake the Wontons: Arrange the wontons on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them so they do not touch. Lightly brush the tops with olive oil or spray with cooking spray; this will help the wontons become golden and crispy during baking.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake the wontons for 15-20 minutes. Halfway through baking, flip them over to ensure even browning and crispiness on both sides.
- Serve: Remove the baked crab rangoon wontons from the oven and let them cool slightly for a few minutes. Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce or soy sauce, for a perfect appetizer experience.
Notes
- You can substitute imitation crab meat if fresh crab is not available.
- Make sure not to overfill the wontons to avoid them bursting open while baking.
- Using olive oil or cooking spray helps to get a crisp texture without frying.
- Store leftover wontons in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Reheat in the oven to retain crispiness instead of using a microwave.
