Description

This classic banana bread recipe is moist, flavorful, and easy to make. It’s perfect for using up overripe bananas and makes a delicious breakfast or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Banana Bread:

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together mashed bananas and melted butter. Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract; stir until combined.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually add to wet mixture; stir until just combined. Fold in walnuts or chocolate chips.
  4. Bake: Pour batter into the loaf pan, smooth the top, and bake for 50–60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra moisture, add 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt to the batter.
  • This banana bread can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
