Ground Beef Mixture:
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 green bell pepper, diced
- 3/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Additional:
- 4 hamburger buns
- Optional: sliced pickles or shredded cheese for topping
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
- Add Vegetables: Add the chopped onion and diced green bell pepper, sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Mix in Sauces: Stir in the barbecue sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer: Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5–10 minutes until the mixture thickens.
- Assemble: Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the buns and serve hot. Top with pickles or cheese if using.
