Scale
Sauce Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter (or olive oil)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ⅓ cup mayonnaise
- ⅓ cup heavy cream (or milk or half and half)
- 5 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
Instructions
- Sauté Garlic: Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until the garlic becomes fragrant without browning.
- Melt Cheese: Reduce the heat to low. Stir in mayonnaise, heavy cream (or your choice of milk or half and half), crumbled blue cheese, and Worcestershire sauce. Heat the mixture gently for 2-3 minutes, mashing the blue cheese with a spoon to aid melting, making sure not to overheat to avoid sauce separation.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the saucepan from heat, stir in lemon juice, and season with black pepper according to taste. Serve the sauce warm or at room temperature for optimal flavor.
Notes
- You can substitute butter with olive oil for a lighter sauce.
- Heavy cream can be replaced with milk or half and half depending on desired richness.
- The sauce should be gently heated to prevent curdling or separation.
- Great accompaniment for salads, chicken wings, or as a dip.
