- 2 tbsp honey, plus extra for drizzling
- 1/4 cup chopped toasted walnuts or pecans
Optional Garnishes
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Fresh thyme leaves
Instructions
- Preheat the oven. Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the pears.
- Prepare the pears. Place the pear halves cut-side up in a baking dish, ensuring they are stable for filling.
- Make the cheese mixture. In a small bowl, combine the crumbled blue cheese with 2 tablespoons of honey until well blended.
- Stuff the pears. Spoon the blue cheese and honey mixture into the center cavity of each pear half, filling generously.
- Add nuts. Sprinkle the chopped toasted walnuts or pecans over the stuffed pears to add crunch and flavor.
- Bake to perfection. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the pears are tender and the cheese has slightly melted.
- Finish and serve. Remove from oven, drizzle additional honey over the pears, and garnish with freshly ground black pepper or fresh thyme leaves if desired before serving.
Notes
- Choose pears that are ripe but firm to hold shape during baking.
- Blue cheese varieties like Gorgonzola or Roquefort work well for a strong flavor.
- To toast nuts, spread them on a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes at 350°F (175°C) until fragrant.
- Adjust honey amount based on your preferred sweetness level.
- This dish can be served warm or at room temperature.
