Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion (finely diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef Patties: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Shape into patties.
  2. Cook the Patties: Sear the patties in olive oil until browned. Set aside.
  3. Make the Gravy: In the same skillet, sauté onion, add flour, then slowly whisk in beef broth. Add Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard. Simmer until thickened.
  4. Combine and Simmer: Return patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, cover, and simmer until cooked through.
  5. Serve: Serve hot with mashed potatoes or egg noodles.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or a beef/pork mix for a different flavor.
  • For extra richness, add a splash of heavy cream to the gravy at the end.
