- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
Seasonings:
- 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Sauce and Others:
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted
- Sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground chicken and cook until browned, about 6-8 minutes.
- Saute Veggies: Add onion, bell pepper, and celery. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add Seasonings and Sauces: Season with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Simmer for 10-12 minutes.
- Adjust and Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning. Spoon mixture onto toasted buns, top with green onions, and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add shredded cheddar cheese on top before serving.
- You can also make this recipe with ground turkey instead of chicken.
- Adjust spice level by reducing or increasing cayenne pepper and hot sauce.
