Scale
Dry Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
Wet Ingredients:
- ¾ cup whole milk
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
For Topping:
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and salt. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- In a separate bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, and beaten egg. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined—do not overmix.
- Scoop ¼ cup portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the tops are lightly golden.
- While baking, prepare the topping by mixing melted butter, garlic powder, and chopped parsley.
- As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic butter mixture. Serve warm.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce to the batter.
- These biscuits are best served fresh but can be reheated in the oven.
