Description

This Cheeseburger Bowl recipe offers a flavorful and fun twist on classic burgers, featuring juicy ground beef cooked with onions and seasoned perfectly, topped with fresh greens, cheddar cheese, cherry tomatoes, pickles, and a homemade copycat Big Mac sauce. Ready in just 35 minutes, it’s a delicious, low-carb alternative to traditional cheeseburgers served with optional potato wedges or fries on the side.

Ingredients

Scale

Big Mac Sauce

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup dill pickle relish
  • 2 Tablespoons finely minced white onion (or dried minced onion)
  • 1 Tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Burger and Bowls

  • ½ cup diced white onion
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Chopped romaine lettuce
  • Freshly grated cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • Sliced cherry tomatoes
  • Sliced dill pickles
  • Cooked potato wedges or French fries (for serving)
  • Sliced red onion (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Big Mac Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, dill pickle relish, finely minced white onion, yellow mustard, paprika, and garlic powder until well combined. Cover and refrigerate the sauce while you prepare the rest of the dish to allow flavors to meld.
  2. Cook the Burger: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the diced white onion and ground beef. Cook, breaking up and crumbling the beef with a spatula, until the meat is fully cooked and the onions are softened. Drain any excess grease from the skillet to keep the dish lean.
  3. Season the Beef: Reduce heat to low and season the cooked beef mixture with salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Stir well to combine and let it cook for an additional 5 minutes on low heat to absorb the flavors.
  4. Assemble the Bowls: Divide the cooked beef and onions evenly among four medium-sized serving bowls. Top each bowl with chopped romaine lettuce, grated cheddar cheese, sliced cherry tomatoes, sliced dill pickles, and optional red onion slices.
  5. Serve with Sauce and Sides: Drizzle the prepared Big Mac sauce generously over each bowl. Serve alongside cooked potato wedges or French fries for a complete meal. Enjoy immediately while warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute dried minced onion if fresh is unavailable, but fresh adds better texture and flavor.
  • For a leaner meal, use lean ground beef (90% lean or higher).
  • Adjust seasoning to taste, especially salt and Worcestershire sauce, based on your preference.
  • This recipe works well with other cheeses like American or Swiss if preferred.
  • Adding sliced red onion is optional but adds a nice crunch and sharpness.
  • For a low-carb version, omit the fries or potatoes and focus on the bowl ingredients.
