These Chicken Swedish Meatballs are a delicious twist on the classic dish, featuring tender ground chicken meatballs in a creamy, flavorful sauce. Perfect for a cozy dinner any night of the week!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatballs: In a large bowl, mix the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, allspice, nutmeg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined. Roll into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. Brown the Meatballs: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the meatballs in batches in olive oil until golden on all sides. Set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, melt butter, whisk in flour, then gradually add chicken broth. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and sour cream. Simmer until creamy.
  4. Combine and Simmer: Return meatballs to the skillet, simmer for 8-10 minutes until cooked through and sauce thickens.
  5. Serve: Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
