Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10- or 12-cup Bundt pan thoroughly.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Add the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
  4. Combine with Coffee: Gradually add the hot coffee or hot water, mixing until the batter is smooth.
  5. Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in chocolate chips if desired.
  6. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and bake for 45-50 minutes.
  7. Cool and Serve: Cool the cake in the pan for 15 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar or chocolate glaze before serving.
