Dough:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan or springform pan.
- Cream butter and sugars: In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla until combined.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until combined.
- Add chocolate chips: Fold in the chocolate chips. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake: Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
- Cool and decorate: Allow to cool completely in the pan before removing. Decorate with frosting or sprinkles if desired before slicing and serving.
