  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan or springform pan.
  2. Cream butter and sugars: In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla until combined.
  3. Mix dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until combined.
  4. Add chocolate chips: Fold in the chocolate chips. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake: Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
  6. Cool and decorate: Allow to cool completely in the pan before removing. Decorate with frosting or sprinkles if desired before slicing and serving.
