Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream butter and sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Stir in the chocolate chunks and nuts if using.
- Bake: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
- Cool and enjoy: Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each cookie before baking.
