Ingredients
Scale
Base Ingredients
- 8 tablespoons butter
- 16 cups mini marshmallows (divided)
- 10 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- ½ teaspoon salt
Chocolate Coating
- 6 ounces high-quality dark chocolate
- 6 ounces high-quality white chocolate
- Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Pan: Line a 9×13-inch pan with foil and lightly grease it with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter. Add 12 cups of mini marshmallows and stir until fully melted and smooth.
- Add Cereal and Remaining Marshmallows: Remove the pot from heat, stir in the salt and Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated. Then add the remaining 4 cups of marshmallows and mix thoroughly to combine.
- Press Mixture into Pan: Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Using parchment paper lightly sprayed with non-stick spray, press the mixture evenly into the pan and smooth the surface. Allow it to cool completely to set.
- Cut into Squares: Once cooled, remove from the pan and cut into 20-24 even squares for serving.
- Set Up Double Boiler for Chocolate: Fill two pots with about 1 inch of water and bring to a simmer. Place a heat-safe bowl over each pot to create two double boilers. Melt the dark chocolate in one bowl and the white chocolate in the other, stirring frequently until smooth.
- Dip Rice Krispie Treats in Chocolate: Dip each Rice Krispie square halfway into the melted chocolate, allowing the excess to drip off. Insert a popsicle stick into each treat and optionally sprinkle with festive decorations like sprinkles for added color and texture.
- Let Chocolate Set: Allow the chocolate coating to fully set at room temperature before serving to ensure the coating is firm and the treats hold together well.
Notes
- Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor and smooth coating.
- Sprinkles are optional but add a festive touch perfect for Easter celebrations.
- Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them fresh for up to 3 days.
- For quicker chocolate setting, refrigerate the dipped treats but be aware this may affect the texture slightly.
- Be careful not to overheat the marshmallows to avoid burning or grainy texture.
