Description

Indulge in the ultimate chocolate lover’s dream with these decadent Chocolate Lava M&M Surprise Cookies. These soft, chewy cookies are filled with a gooey molten chocolate center that will delight your taste buds with each bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookies:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup M&M’s

Filling:

  • 12 small chocolate truffles or chocolate squares (such as Dove or Lindt)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Mix wet and dry ingredients: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined.
  6. Add chocolate chips and M&M’s: Fold in the chocolate chips and half of the M&M’s.
  7. Assemble cookies: Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough, flatten it slightly, place a chocolate truffle in the center, cover with another tablespoon of dough, seal the edges, roll into a ball.
  8. Bake: Place cookies on baking sheet, press extra M&M’s on top, bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set but centers are still soft.
  9. Cool and serve: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Serve warm for the molten chocolate center.

Notes

  • For a colorful holiday twist, use seasonal M&M’s.
  • If you prefer less sweetness, dark chocolate truffles work beautifully.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
