Meringue Nests:
- 4 large egg whites, at room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
Whipped Cream Filling:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Decoration:
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate eggs or pastel candies
- Chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven and prepare baking sheet: Preheat the oven to 225°F (110°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Make the meringue nests: Beat egg whites until foamy, add cream of tartar, gradually add sugar, fold in cocoa powder, pipe nests on the baking sheet, and bake.
- Prepare the whipped cream: Whip heavy cream with sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Fill the nests: Fill each cooled meringue nest with whipped cream.
- Decorate: Top with mini chocolate eggs and chocolate shavings if desired.
