- Heart-shaped sprinkles or candy hearts for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- Prepare Cupcake Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract, mix until smooth. Slowly add hot water or coffee, whisk until batter is thin and smooth.
- Bake Cupcakes: Divide batter among cupcake liners, bake for 18-20 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool in pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Make Frosting: Beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, beat in vanilla extract and heavy cream until fluffy.
- Frost Cupcakes: Frost cooled cupcakes and decorate with sprinkles or candy hearts.
