Description
A decadent and indulgent Chocolate Toffee Trifle featuring layers of moist chocolate cake, sweetened condensed milk, rich caramel sauce, fluffy whipped cream, luscious chocolate fudge, and crunchy chopped Heath or Skor bars, perfect for impressing guests or treating yourself.
Ingredients
Scale
Cake:
- 1 pan chocolate cake (9×13-inch), baked and cooled
Sauces and Toppings:
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
- 12 oz caramel sauce
- 1 cup chocolate fudge sauce
- 6 Heath or Skor bars, chopped
Whipped Cream:
- 2 cups cold heavy whipping cream
- 0.5 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Whipped Cream: In a cold mixing bowl, beat the cold heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Chill the whipped cream until ready to use to keep it stable and fresh.
- Cube the Cake: Break the baked and cooled chocolate cake into small chunks or cubes that will layer easily in the trifle dish.
- First Layer Assembly: In a trifle dish, place one-third of the chocolate cake chunks as the base layer. Drizzle one-third of the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake, followed by one-third of the caramel sauce.
- Add Whipped Cream and Fudge: Spread a generous layer of the whipped cream over the soaked cake and drizzle a portion of the chocolate fudge sauce on top.
- Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering process two more times using the remaining cake, sweetened condensed milk, caramel sauce, whipped cream, and fudge sauce to build a visually appealing trifle.
- Final Topping: Finish with a thick layer of whipped cream on top, then sprinkle the chopped Heath or Skor bars evenly over the trifle. Add extra fudge sauce over the top if desired for extra richness.
- Chill: Refrigerate the trifle for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld and the layers to set beautifully.
Notes
- Use a large glass trifle bowl or clear deep dish to showcase the beautiful layers.
- For best results, chill the whipped cream bowl and beaters before whipping to achieve soft peaks easier.
- The trifle can be prepared a day in advance and refrigerated to enhance flavor.
- Heath bars can be substituted with Skor bars or any toffee candy of choice.
- If you prefer a less sweet dessert, reduce the amount of sweetened condensed milk or caramel sauce slightly.
- Serve chilled for a refreshing and rich dessert experience.
