Ingredients
Scale
Cake
- 1 pan chocolate cake (9×13-inch), baked and cooled
Sauces & Fillings
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
- 12 oz caramel sauce
- 1 cup chocolate fudge sauce
Whipped Cream
- 2 cups cold heavy whipping cream
- 0.5 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping
- 6 Heath or Skor bars, chopped
Instructions
- Prepare Whipped Cream: In a cold mixing bowl, beat the cold heavy whipping cream together with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Chill the whipped cream until ready to use to maintain its texture and prevent melting.
- Prepare Cake: Break the baked and cooled chocolate cake into small chunks or cubes suitable for layering in the trifle dish.
- First Layer: In a trifle dish, arrange 1/3 of the cake chunks evenly at the bottom. Drizzle evenly with 1/3 of the sweetened condensed milk and 1/3 of the caramel sauce to add moisture and flavor.
- Add Whipped Cream and Fudge: Spoon a generous layer of whipped cream over the cake and sauces. Then drizzle with some of the chocolate fudge sauce to enrich the cream layer.
- Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering process two more times using the remaining cake chunks, sweetened condensed milk, caramel sauce, whipped cream, and fudge sauce to build the trifle.
- Final Topping: On the top final layer of whipped cream, sprinkle chopped Heath or Skor bars generously to add a crunchy toffee texture. Optionally drizzle additional fudge sauce for extra indulgence.
- Chill: Refrigerate the assembled trifle for at least 2 hours before serving. This chilling time allows the flavors to meld together for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- Use a cold bowl and chilled cream to ensure fluffy whipped cream.
- The cake should be completely cooled before breaking into pieces to prevent sogginess.
- Feel free to substitute Heath or Skor bars with your favorite toffee candy bars.
- Chilling for longer than 2 hours will deepen the flavors.
- This dessert is best served cold and fresh but can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
