Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients:
- 2 large apples (such as Honeycrisp or Fuji)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar (optional)
- lemon juice (optional, to prevent browning)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 225°F (110°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Prepare the apples: Wash and core the apples, then slice them very thinly using a sharp knife or mandoline—about 1/8 inch thick. If desired, lightly brush the slices with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Season the apple slices: Arrange the slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets. In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the apple slices.
- Bake: Bake for 1 hour, then flip the slices and bake for another 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until the chips are dry and crisp.
- Cool and store: Turn off the oven and let the apple chips sit inside for 30 minutes to crisp up further. Remove and let cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
Notes
- For a no-sugar version, skip the sugar and use only cinnamon.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week to maintain crispness.
