Main Casserole:
- 1 loaf brioche or challah bread (about 14–16 oz, cut into 1-inch cubes)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
For the Topping:
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter (cut into small cubes)

Instructions
- Prepare the Casserole: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread cubed bread evenly in the dish.
- Make the Custard: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugars, vanilla, spices, and salt.
- Soak the Bread: Pour the custard over the bread cubes, pressing lightly. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat and Top: Preheat oven. Make topping, sprinkle over casserole.
- Bake: Bake for 45–50 minutes until set and golden.
- Rest and Serve: Let cool, then serve with garnishes.
