  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin pan with cupcake liners.
  2. Prepare the batter: Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and vanilla. Mix in milk and sour cream. Combine dry and wet ingredients.
  3. Bake the cupcakes: Divide batter into liners and bake for 18-20 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
  4. Make the frosting: Beat butter, sift powdered sugar and cocoa, add to butter with cream, vanilla, and salt. Beat until fluffy.
