These Cod Fish Tacos are a delicious and easy seafood dish that’s perfect for a quick and flavorful meal. Tender cod fillets are seasoned with a blend of spices, grilled to perfection, and served in warm tortillas with a zesty creamy sauce and crunchy slaw. These tacos are a great option for a casual weeknight dinner or a fun taco night with friends and family.

Ingredients

Scale

Cod Fish Tacos:

  • 1 lb cod fillets, cut into strips
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage or slaw mix
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

For the Creamy Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Cod: In a bowl, toss cod strips with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and lime juice. Let marinate for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Creamy Sauce: Whisk together sour cream, mayonnaise, lime juice, hot sauce (if using), and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
  3. Cook the Cod: Heat a nonstick skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Cook the cod for 2–3 minutes per side until opaque and cooked through.
  4. Assemble Tacos: Warm tortillas, place cabbage on each, top with cod, drizzle with sauce, and sprinkle with cilantro.
  5. Serve: Serve with lime wedges. Enjoy!
