Cake:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee (cooled)

Filling and Frosting:

  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare cake pans.
  2. Prepare cake batter: Mix dry ingredients, cream butter and sugar, add eggs and flavorings, alternate adding dry ingredients and liquids.
