Ingredients
Scale
Quiche Base
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk cottage cheese
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
Additional Ingredients
- 1/2 cup grated cheese (optional)
- Up to 1 cup choice of vegetables and proteins (bell peppers, spinach, mushrooms, bacon, or ham)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure a properly heated environment for even baking.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Spray a 9-inch baking dish with oil to prevent sticking and to promote easy removal of the quiche after baking.
- Blend Base Ingredients: In a blender or food processor, combine the eggs, cottage cheese, salt, and pepper. Blend until the mixture is smooth and uniform, which helps create a creamy texture in the final quiche.
- Add Cheese and Fillings: Stir in the grated cheese and your chosen vegetables and/or proteins. Mix thoroughly to evenly distribute all ingredients within the egg mixture.
- Pour Mixture into Dish: Transfer the blended and mixed mixture into the prepared 9-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake the Quiche: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes. Bake until the center is fully set and the edges turn golden brown, indicating it is cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the quiche to cool slightly before slicing. This resting time helps the quiche firm up for cleaner slices and better presentation.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the quiche with any vegetables or proteins you like; just keep the total volume around 1 cup to maintain the right texture.
- Using a blender ensures a smooth, velvety texture but whisking by hand can work as well.
- For a lower-fat version, use low-fat or fat-free cottage cheese and skip the optional grated cheese.
- The quiche can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently before serving.
- If you want a stronger flavor, try adding herbs like chives, parsley, or thyme.
