- 1 pound ground beef
- 6 slices bacon (chopped)
- 1 small onion (diced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans (drained and rinsed)
- 1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
- 1 (15-ounce) can pork and beans (not drained)
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook Bacon: In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook chopped bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside, keeping the bacon fat in the pan.
- Cook Beef: Add ground beef and onion to the pan. Cook until beef is browned, and onion is soft. Drain excess fat. Stir in garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add Beans and Sauce: Add pinto beans, kidney beans, and pork and beans. Stir in barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and cooked bacon. Mix well.
- Simmer: Simmer over low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thick and bubbly. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Serve: Serve warm as a hearty side or main dish.
Notes
- This dish can also be baked at 350°F for 30–40 minutes or cooked in a slow cooker on low for 4 hours.
