Description

These Cowboy Butter Steak Sliders offer a mouthwatering combination of thinly sliced seared steak layered with melted cheese and brushed with a flavorful garlic and spice-infused cowboy butter. Perfect for game day or casual entertaining, these sliders are toasted, baked until the cheese melts, and garnished with fresh parsley for an irresistible appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak Sliders

  • 1 1/2 pounds steak (ribeye or sirloin, thinly sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 slider buns
  • 6 slices provolone or Swiss cheese (halved)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Cowboy Butter

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare and Sear the Steak: Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Toss the thinly sliced steak with olive oil, salt, and pepper to coat evenly. Sear the steak in batches for 1 to 2 minutes per side until nicely browned and cooked to your preferred doneness, then set the cooked steak aside.
  2. Make the Cowboy Butter: In a small bowl, whisk together melted unsalted butter, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, chopped fresh parsley, crushed red pepper flakes, paprika, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
  3. Toast Slider Buns: Slice the slider buns horizontally and optionally toast them lightly to add a slight crispness and warmth.
  4. Assemble the Sliders: Brush the bottom halves of the buns generously with cowboy butter. Layer each with a portion of the cooked steak and place half a slice of provolone or Swiss cheese on top. Close the sliders with the top bun halves and brush the tops with more cowboy butter.
  5. Bake to Melt Cheese: Arrange the assembled sliders on a baking sheet and place them in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C). Bake for 5 to 7 minutes or until the cheese has melted thoroughly and the sliders are warmed through.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove the sliders from the oven, garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Add caramelized onions or sautéed mushrooms inside the sliders for extra depth of flavor.
  • Perfect choice for game day parties or casual entertaining due to easy hand-held portion size and bold flavors.
