Indulge in the ultimate comfort food with this Cozy Gnocchi Bolognese recipe. A hearty and flavorful dish that combines tender gnocchi with a rich, savory meat sauce. Perfect for a cozy night in!

Ingredients

Scale

Meat Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup whole milk

To Serve:

  • 1 pound potato gnocchi
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meat Sauce: Heat olive oil in a large skillet. Cook onion, carrot, and celery until softened. Add garlic, ground beef, tomato paste, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper. Cook until beef is browned.
  2. Add Liquid and Simmer: Pour in wine, simmer to reduce. Add crushed tomatoes, simmer for 25–30 minutes. Stir in milk and simmer for 5 more minutes.
  3. Cook Gnocchi: Cook gnocchi according to package instructions. Add cooked gnocchi to the sauce, toss to coat.
  4. Serve: Top with Parmesan and herbs if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, simmer the sauce longer (up to an hour).
  • Ground pork or a beef-pork mix can be used instead of ground beef.
  • Use store-bought or homemade gnocchi.
  • To make it creamy, stir in a splash of heavy cream at the end.
