Cupcake Batter:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup hot water
Frosting:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- Prepare Batter: Whisk together dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, mix wet ingredients. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then stir in hot water. Fill cupcake liners and bake for 18–20 minutes.
- Make Frosting: Beat butter, add cocoa powder and powdered sugar alternately with heavy cream. Beat in vanilla extract. Frost cooled cupcakes generously.
Notes
- For extra indulgence, fill cupcakes with chocolate ganache before frosting.
