- 1 pound medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
For the Biscuits:
- 1 can (8 count) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Biscuits: Preheat oven and bake biscuits according to package directions; set aside.
- Make the Sauce: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux. Gradually whisk in the milk and cream until smooth. Cook, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens, about 3–4 minutes.
- Season and Add Shrimp: Stir in Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add the shrimp and cook for 3–4 minutes, or until pink and cooked through.
- Finish and Serve: Remove from heat and stir in green onions and parsley. To serve, split the warm biscuits and spoon the creamy shrimp mixture over each half.
Notes
- For added flavor, sauté a bit of minced garlic or chopped celery with the butter before adding flour.
- You can also use homemade biscuits if preferred.
