Description

These Crispy Cheeseburger Egg Rolls are a delicious twist on a classic favorite, combining seasoned ground beef, cheddar cheese, pickles, and condiments inside a crispy fried wrapper. Perfect as an appetizer or snack, they deliver all the flavors of a cheeseburger in a fun, handheld form.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup pickles, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Wrapper and Cooking

  • 8 egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Cook Ground Beef and Onions: In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and diced onions. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions are soft, stirring occasionally. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  2. Mix Filling Ingredients: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, finely chopped pickles, ketchup, mustard, garlic powder, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  3. Assemble Egg Rolls: Lay one egg roll wrapper flat on a clean surface. Place about 2-3 tablespoons of the beef mixture near one corner of the wrapper.
  4. Roll Egg Rolls: Fold in the sides of the wrapper and roll it up tightly from the corner with the filling. Seal the edge by moistening it with a little water to keep it closed.
  5. Repeat Assembly: Continue the process with the remaining wrappers and filling until all egg rolls are prepared.
  6. Heat Oil: In a deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C), ensuring there is enough oil to submerge the egg rolls.
  7. Fry Egg Rolls: Fry the egg rolls in batches for 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  8. Drain and Serve: Remove the egg rolls from the oil and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve hot with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Make sure the oil is at the correct temperature before frying to prevent greasy egg rolls.
  • You can customize the filling by adding other favorite burger toppings like cooked bacon or different cheeses.
  • To keep egg rolls warm if frying in batches, place them on a baking sheet in a warm oven.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in an oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
