Description

These Crispy Fried Mushrooms are a delightful appetizer or snack that features button or cremini mushrooms coated in a crunchy panko and Parmesan crust. Perfectly seasoned and fried to a golden brown, these mushrooms are sure to be a hit at any gathering.

Mushrooms:

  • 1 pound button or cremini mushrooms (cleaned and stems trimmed)

Breading:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Other:

  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Mushrooms: Pat the mushrooms dry with a paper towel.
  2. Breading Station: Set up three shallow bowls with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat Mushrooms: Dredge mushrooms in flour, then egg, and finally breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Fry Mushrooms: Heat oil to 350°F, fry mushrooms in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden and crispy.
  5. Drain and Serve: Transfer fried mushrooms to a paper towel-lined plate. Serve hot, garnished with parsley.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the breadcrumb mix.
  • Best served fresh but can be kept warm in a 200°F oven if needed.
