Ingredients
Scale
Batter:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
Wet Ingredients:
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Other:
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream or milk (for chocolate drizzle)
Instructions
- Batter Preparation: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Frying Funnel Cakes: Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet or pot to 375°F (190°C). Pour the batter into a squeeze bottle or a piping bag with a round tip (or use a measuring cup to pour in a thin stream). Carefully drizzle the batter into the hot oil in a circular, crisscross pattern. Fry each funnel cake for 1–2 minutes per side or until golden brown. Remove with tongs and drain on paper towels.
- Chocolate Drizzle: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with the cream in 15-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Drizzle the chocolate over the funnel cakes and dust with powdered sugar. Serve warm.
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then add milk and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and whisk until smooth. The batter should be pourable but not too thin—similar to pancake batter.
Notes
- For flavored variations, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter.
- You can also use white chocolate or caramel drizzle instead of or in addition to the chocolate.
