Main Chili Mixture:

- 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 ounces) chili beans, undrained
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, with juice
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Additional Ingredients:
- 1 bag (32 ounces) frozen tater tots
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Optional: sour cream and jalapeño slices for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Cook beef: In a large skillet, heat olive oil and cook ground beef until browned. Add onion and garlic, cook until softened.
- Make chili: Stir in chili beans, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, spices. Simmer until thickened.
- Assemble: Spread chili mixture in a baking dish, top with tater tots.
- Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until tots are crispy.
- Add cheese: Sprinkle cheddar over tots, bake until melted.
- Serve: Garnish with green onions, sour cream, jalapeños.
