Description

This Crockpot Apple Crisp is a delightful dessert that combines tender, cinnamon-spiced apples with a crunchy oat and nut topping. Perfect for a cozy fall treat or anytime you’re craving a comforting sweet dish.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Apple Filling:

  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, divided
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

For the Oat Topping:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Pinch of salt

For Serving:

  • Vanilla ice cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apple Filling: In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Layer in the Crockpot: Lightly grease the inside of your crockpot with nonstick spray. Pour the apple mixture into the crockpot and spread evenly.
  3. Make the Oat Topping: In a separate bowl, mix the oats, flour, remaining 1/4 cup brown sugar, chopped nuts (if using), melted butter, and pinch of salt until crumbly.
  4. Add the Topping: Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
  5. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden and crisp.
  6. Serve: Serve warm with vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of vanilla extract to the apples.
  • Use gluten-free oats and flour if needed.
