Description

These Custard Almond Puff Pastry Pockets are a delightful treat combining flaky puff pastry with creamy vanilla custard and crunchy almonds. Perfect for a sweet indulgence!


Ingredients

Puff Pastry:

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

Vanilla Custard:

½ cup

Sliced Almonds:

¼ cup

Egg Wash:

1 egg, 1 tablespoon milk

Additional:

1 tablespoon granulated sugar, optional powdered sugar for dusting


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare puff pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheet slightly on a floured surface and cut into 4 equal squares.
  3. Add custard: Place a spoonful (about 2 tablespoons) of vanilla custard in the center of each square.
  4. Fold and seal: Fold each square diagonally into a triangle, pressing the edges together to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges.
  5. Prepare egg wash: In a small bowl, whisk the egg with milk to make an egg wash.
  6. Brush and sprinkle: Brush each pastry with the egg wash and sprinkle with sliced almonds and a bit of granulated sugar.
  7. Bake: Place on the baking sheet and bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Finish and serve: Allow to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm or at room temperature.
