Description

This Dorito Taco Salad is a delicious and satisfying meal that combines classic taco flavors with crunchy Doritos. It’s easy to make and perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a crowd-pleasing party dish.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Taco Meat:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water

For the Salad:

  • 1 large head romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup canned black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup canned corn, drained
  • 1/2 cup red onion, diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 large avocado, diced
  • 2 cups nacho cheese Doritos, slightly crushed

For the Dressing:

  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup salsa

Instructions

  1. Cook the Taco Meat: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain any excess fat. Stir in the taco seasoning and water, then simmer for 3 minutes until the beef is well coated.
  2. Assemble the Salad: In a large salad bowl, layer the lettuce, tomatoes, black beans, corn, onion, cheese, and avocado. Add the cooked taco meat.
  3. Make the Dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together the ranch dressing and salsa. Pour over the salad and toss gently to combine.
  4. Finish and Serve: Just before serving, add the crushed Doritos and toss again. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
  • Greek yogurt can replace ranch dressing for a healthier twist.
  • Add jalapeños or hot sauce for extra spice.
  • To keep chips crunchy, add Doritos only when ready to serve.
